From the Director`s Desk
From our early beginnings in 1900 to the present day, IMR has a proud legacy as a national institution built on science, service, and resilience. As a leading institute for biomedical research, IMR has consistently advanced the health and wellbeing of the Malaysian people through evidence-based information and innovation.
Over the years, our work has remained deeply rooted in national priorities while expanding our reach globally. Our researchers have made notable advances in genomics, infectious and noncommunicable diseases, environmental health, herbal medicine, and cancer research. Through strategic research collaborations regionally and globally, IMR is deepening its role particularly in diagnostics, public health, and translational research.
Raising the visibility of IMR, both within Malaysia and on the international stage, has been a key priority. We continue to engage more actively with the public, policymakers, and the global scientific community. By publishing impactful research, participating in global networks, and representing Malaysia in high-level health and research forums, IMR continues to gain recognition in the advancement of biomedical research. Looking forward, we are committed to further strengthening our international collaborations, enhancing the impact of our research in ways that can benefit health systems. At the same time, we remain steadfast in our mission to support the National Health Research Priorities of the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, and to translate our research from the laboratory into tangible benefits for the community.
Through teamwork and innovation, together, we will continue to build on our legacy and push the boundaries of knowledge for a healthier future.
