Autoimmune Unit

Autoimmune Unit
The initiation of autoimmune laboratory services within the Immunology Division, Institute for Medical Research(IMR), dates back to the 1990s, with an initial concentration on tissue antibodies and antinuclear antibodies (ANA). By early 2001, the autoimmune laboratory commenced the provision of ANA samples for the National Quality Assurance Program to Ministry of Health (MOH) hospitals. Established in 2010, the Autoimmune Unit, Allergy & Immunology Research Centre in IMR functions as the national referral centre for autoimmune diagnostics and research. Its mandate encompasses autoimmune diseases and mRNA vaccines, along with the cultivation of expertise through education, in collaboration with universities and hospitals, to advance healthcare and scientific progress.
