Climate Change Unit
Climate Change Unit
The Climate Change (CC) Unit plays a central role in climate change and health research through modelling and risk assessment to evaluate the impact of climate change on climate-sensitive diseases and overall public health. This includes analysing the effects of temperature variations and air pollution on mortality and morbidity, as well as modelling the risks of vector-borne diseases and potential outbreaks.
In addition, the Unit conducts vulnerability assessments to evaluate community preparedness for climate-related health risks and the resilience of healthcare facilities in adapting to a changing climate. The increasing severity and complexity of climate impacts underscore the importance of this dedicated unit in providing evidence-based insights and proactive strategies to protect population health and strengthen the healthcare system’s capacity to respond effectively to future climate challenges.
