Specialised Diagnostic Centre (SDC)

Specialised Diagnostic Centre
SDC is MS ISO 15189 accredited laboratories and provides comprehensive specialised diagnostic services, offering over 200 biochemical genetic, molecular genetic, specialised protein and endocrinology tests, including screening, confirmation and molecular testing.
The primary objective is to improve public health through the provision of accurate, rapid, and high-standard diagnostic services to support the management of diseases related to Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM), genetic, endocrine, and non-communicable diseases, as well as clinical research. In addition, the centre strengthens the nation’s capacity in diagnostic technology and translational research through technology transfer, specialist training, and collaboration with local and international institutions.
The centre also advances digital health innovation through the digitalisation of specimen management and fully digital reporting to enhance efficiency, traceability, and overall service quality across diagnostic and research specimen management. There are five units within SDC: the Biochemistry Unit, Special Protein Unit, Endocrine Unit, Molecular Diagnostic Unit and Specimen Management Unit.
